This new release from Canada’s Benjamin’s Kite explores themes of cosmic wonderment, such as “how did we get here?”, “what path should we take in life?”, and the unforgiving march of time. The album leads off with an interstellar epic, loosely based on the origin stories of the Anunnaki, inscribed in ancient Sumerian cuneiform tablets. Subsequent tracks speak of isolation, making tough choices and the spiritual forces that influence the direction of our lives. Building on the direction of their third album, Ingenious Cacophonies, this release melds the traditional keyboard-driven sound of the seventies prog rock with jazz influences, and with an overriding melodic structure and modern production sensibilities.
